Comprehensive Eye Health Examinations

An eye examination by our doctor is not merely a simple vision test. Eye exams include a pressure test for glaucoma, vision testing to determine your optimal eyeglass or contact lens Rx, evaluation of eye movement and focusing ability, pupillary abnormalities testing (which can often indicate an underlying neurological disorder) as well as an eye health assessment. Eye drops to dilate the pupils may be required during the eye exam.

Diabetic Eye Care

People suffering from diabetes are more PRONE to serious eye diseases which can greatly affect their vision and quality of life. When the blood sugar is consistently high it affects the blood vessels of the retina which can lead to bleeding and fluid building up. This can cause vision loss. Also diabetics are more prone to cataract development. Due to these concerns, diabetics are covered annually through their OHIP card regardless of age. Our Optometrist will be able to evaluate the health of your eyes through a dilated eye examination and can protect your vision for years to come.

Laser Eye Consultation

We offer a complimentary consultation to determine if you are a candidate for laser eye surgery (when a comprehensive eye exam is done). Your pupils will need to be dilated. There are many different vision correction procedures available to you these days. We ensure you are educated on your best options to ensure a successful outcome. We will refer you to our trusted ophthalmologists who will perform your surgery.

Automated Visual Field Testing

Our clinic is invested in protecting the health of your eyes for years to come. We have the Medmont M700 Perimeter. This useful test identifies peripheral and central visual field losses for early detection of glaucoma, retinal and neurological disorders. Because there are often no warning signs for glaucoma, this test is crucial in the diagnosis and management.

Dry Eye Disease Management

Do you experience dryness, itching, burning or watery eyes? Do your eyes feel gritty from time to time? Symptoms such as these may be due to dry eye disease which affects 5 to 30% of the population! This disease occurs when the lacrimal glands aren’t able to produce sufficient tears or if the tears are evaporating too quickly from the eye (usually caused by a deficiency in the meibomian gland). This can be due to many different factors including certain types of medications, contact lenses, age and certain inflammatory disease processes. There is a broad range of severity for dry eye disease and many times can affect the quality of life. Luckily, with new advances in this field our doctors are able to identify the severity of dry eye and offer treatment options. These may include eye drops, eye vitamins, lifestyle changes, warm compresses, lacrimal plugs and/ or other in-office treatments.

Ocular Emergencies

Are you experiencing hazy vision? Did you see flashes of light or many spots in your vision? Are your eyes very light sensitive? Are your eyes getting red and painful? All of these conditions could be a potential emergency which needs to be evaluated by an eye care professional. Our Optometrist is board certified in the US and Canada to examine, diagnose and treat most of these eye diseases and conditions so that you can rest assured you have the best possible care.

Our high resolution retinal camera will take a detailed scan of your retina (internal membrane at the back of your eye) examining optic nerve, macula and blood vessels. This state of the art technology will provide early detection of potential eye diseases. It is also a very useful tool for healthy patients in providing a baseline of their eye health.

Eyewear Repairs

Our team takes pride in all that we do and understand the importance of seeing well and looking your best. Having a pair of glasses that is constantly falling off your face, lopsided or leaving marks on your temples does not help in accomplishing this. As a service to our patients and our community, we will make every effort to repair or adjust your eyewear in our in-house lab (even if you did not purchase the glasses from us!).
